Ruff Around the Edges

My mom would always say there is someone for everyone. Well then there must be someone for every dog, even the funny looking dogs! Here is a list of some funny looking dogs and their not so funny history.
- The Afghan Hound: He’s a bit high maitenance! Discovered by the West in Afghanistan during the 19th century little else is known of this breed’s history. Some believe without basis that it came from Ancient Egypt…people believe a lot without basis, for more absure examples see the absurd things people believe without basis list

- The Borzoi: He’s lightning fast! The dog formerly known as the Russian Wolfhound was bred by Russian Aristocracy for centruries referenced as early as the time of Gengis Khan. This sight hound is well known for his courage to pursue and overtake. Or as we say at the office ABC always be closing.Â

- The Komondor: He’s a mighty fellow! He is a descendent of the Aftscharka which the Huns found on the Southern steppes as they passed through Russia. They mistook him for a flying mop.

- The Colored Bull Terrier: He’s a scrappy chap! This bull terrier is believed to have been created by crossing a bulldog with a now extinct white terrier and later with a Spanish pointer. It was a good fighter dog when dog fights were allowed, famous for a mean head butt.

- Japanese Chin: He’s high society! This old breed is depicted on ancient Chinese pottery and embroidery. Presumably that’s where they came from centuries ago when the Chinese emporers gave a pair to the emperor of Japan. There they were kept among the nobility and used as a gift of esteem. Because nothing really means anything until you have a dog with a squashy face.
